A bakery redraws its counter.

Behind the scenes of a professional project: telling craft through the matter of decor.

Reading · 5 min

This project began with a simple question from the artisans: 'how do we show that our bread is different?'. Not through panels, not through slogans. Through the decor itself.

We replaced the laminate counter with an oiled solid oak top, set on a patinated brass base. Wicker baskets, chosen at an Auvergne basket-maker, replaced the plastic bins. The baker's gesture became visible again.

Three months after opening, average basket rose by 18%, foot traffic by 26%. But what really matters are the customer notes: 'here, you can feel it is handmade'. The decor did its work: telling, without saying.
